From Darkness and Into the Light

By: Jason

There I was stumbling in the pitch black chamber. It felt like I had been walking for hours before I finally came to the conclusion that it was time to give up. Right as I sat in that place that made me become overwhelmed with depressing thoughts, I saw a single speck of bright light shine into my glazed eyes. I had a sudden urge to get up and move towards this particle that seemed useless to get to. As I progressed towards this beam, I realized the more I lost faith in myself the smaller it got, but the more confident I became it grew. After a few minutes of walking I came upon An opening. Just as I was about to enter the opening , I felt hands grabbing me and trying to pull me back down into that terrible place. I didn't have to see to know who it was trying to drag me down, it was my Dad, Mom, and my Aunt, the woman that had left so many scars in my life. I knew at that moment that I couldn't let them drag me back down, and after a few minutes of struggling I was free. When I finally got out I noticed the light was coming from the sun that was now setting. I sat and absorbed as much of the light as I could before I was dragged back down.
